225. Hawthorn

The water brewed is extremely sour, and the leftover medicine dregs after brewing are harmless to humans and animals.

After drinking, the stomach gets activated (after 1 minute, there is a slight acid sensation in the stomach), the blood vessels feel full, and the blood flow speeds up, with a sensation of cleansing.

Efficacy: Besides showing digestion and accumulation elimination on a macroscopic level, on a microscopic level (blood vessels, tissue fluid) it also shows effects of breaking down fats and removing blood stasis and turbidity.

PS: If you want to digest and eliminate accumulation, you really have to use dried products to brew the water. Eating fresh products directly or boiling fresh products for water is somewhat inferior. When adding hawthorn to sour plum soup, if fresh hawthorn is added, the final product will have an earthy fishy smell (only tried once, there might be other variables interfering, for reference only, interested students can do replication tests).

226. Charred Shenqu

Tastes like roasted barley tea, quite pleasant.

After drinking, the stomach feels nourished and the function slightly enhanced.

Efficacy: Nourishes the stomach, strengthens digestive function, dissolves food and eliminates accumulation.

226.1 Jian Shenqu

Jian Shenqu itself is already a large prescription, containing more than 40 kinds of herbs, with a relatively complex taste, indeed able to taste some familiar flavors.

After drinking, there is a qi rising straight from the epigastrium to the throat, slight sweating occurs, which helps the stomach’s digestive function but is much less effective than Liu Shenqu. Instead, there is a feeling of qi gathering in the epigastrium, not moving downward.
