221. Gan Song (Sweet Pine)

It smells somewhat like pine wood. The brewed water is mainly bitter, slightly causing a scratchy throat, and after a few seconds, a cooling sensation appears.

After drinking, the energy concentrates in the spleen and stomach. The “醒” (wake up) in “醒脾” (spleen awakening) is indeed vivid. The whole body feels a bit cool, wanting to shiver — for the spleen and stomach, it is “warm,” but for the peripheral parts, it is cold, because the energy (Wei Qi) is gathered back from the muscles to the spleen. As for the spleen and stomach, a cooling sensation starts about 5 minutes later, lasting for around an hour. During this period, the digestive and transformational abilities are positively buffed.

Effect: Stimulates appetite and awakens the spleen.

222. Jiu Xiang Chong (Nine Fragrance Bug)

Not unpleasant to drink; primarily sweet with a slight fishy taste. Real men chew it directly; the internal organs are bitter, and when chewed into pieces, the juice causes some throat irritation.

After drinking, there is a sensation of circulation through the internal organs and peripheral areas (tendons, muscles, skin, and bones), mainly targeting the spleen and liver internally, and the vessels and flesh externally.

Effect: Unblocks the spleen and liver, promotes Qi circulation and vessel clearance.

223. Knife Bean

The brewed Knife Bean is not hard to eat, tasting sweet with a bit of sourness. The infused water tastes like soybean soup with some added sourness.

Effect: Slightly tonifies the middle burner, with a very mild replenishing effect on the kidney essence.
