In March 2021, the European Journal of Heart Failure published the first edition of the “Universal Definition and Classification of Heart Failure” consensus statement led by the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) (referred to as the “Consensus Statement”) [ 1 ], which ended the history of inconsistent definitions and classifications of heart failure (referred to as “HF”) and marked a milestone in the history of heart failure. This article will interpret the universal definition and classification of heart failure and analyze and compare it with the latest heart failure guidelines in China.
