The main mechanism is that the imbalance in CCB (calcium channel blocker)-induced dilation of small arterioles and venules in the microcirculation leads to increased hydrostatic pressure in the microcirculation, causing fluid to enter the interstitial space. Once edema occurs, it resolves very slowly without intervention.
