A117: So busy I forgot myself

The first day after graduating in June, I went straight to work — as a product manager at a medical education company.

I worked at full tilt for nearly half a year. Looking back, it was a fulfilling, exhausting, painful yet happy stretch of time.

But lately, I have felt more and more that the busier I get, the more I lose myself.

Like looking at my phone too much: I keep watching, and forget how delicious the food is, how cool the breeze is, how warm the sunshine is — and forget myself too.

I thought of the phrase “jia qing yu wu,” literally “infusing one’s emotions into objects.” It originally carries a beautiful, elegant meaning: pouring one’s feelings into things. But is looking at the phone too much also infusing one’s emotions into objects? Or even losing oneself in them?

Work gives me the same feeling now. If I place too much of myself in work, I become like a wisp of vapor — too scattered, drifting, and impossible to grasp.

After realizing this, I want to do something to “pick myself up.” There are many ways, but mainly: consume less, create more; take in the world less, observe myself more.

So I am going to start daily updates again. During this period, many fun, interesting, or bittersweet things happened, and I will write them slowly to you.

If there is anything you want to ask, feel free to ask in the comments anytime. I will reply as soon as I can
