[PDF] Commentary on Entering the Middle Way by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche

Introduction to the Middle Way (Madhyamakavatara) is a classic text of the Madhyamaka (Middle Way) school authored by the Indian master Chandrakirti. It is an essential treatise for studying Mahayana Buddhism—particularly the Prajna-paramita (Perfection of Wisdom) teachings on emptiness (shunyata). Commentaries on this text typically center on explaining “great compassion,” “bodhicitta,” and “non-dual wisdom” (emptiness), elucidating the progressive stages of realization traversed by bodhisattvas across the ten bhumis—from ordinary being to full Buddhahood—while emphasizing the profound view of dependent origination and emptiness.

Between 1996 and 2000, during a series of teachings held in Chanteloube, Dordogne, France, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche gave extensive commentaries and oral instructions on Chandrakirti’s Introduction to the Middle Way. He received these teachings from many great masters, including Kyabje Khenchen Appe Rinpoche.
