Dormitory Allocation / Moving Process (Simplified Version):
-
Assigned to class dormitories
-
Internal class negotiation for room grouping (be prepared to separate dormitories)
-
Once room grouping is confirmed, the class announces the dormitory allocation document
-
Moving
Notes:
-
There will be school buses and trucks responsible for transportation; school buses for students, Huolala (货拉拉) for transporting students’ luggage
-
Moving will last for several days, with different colleges arranging different times
-
Generally, one truck can carry luggage for 8 people
-
(First-year female dormitory) It is recommended to “declutter” your luggage, as storage space in the West District dormitories is relatively limited
Electronics:
You can use pots; the first-year dormitory supposedly limits electric power to 300W, high-power appliances need to be used in the laundry room. Dorm supervisors check rooms frequently, but mostly just glance from outside and the checks are not very strict.
Bed Dimensions:
The beds in the West District are slightly shorter than in Liangxiang, with various sizes. (About 1cm smaller — mattresses usable in Liangxiang can all be used in the West District as well.)
Four-person Room:
Wooden bed board width: 85cm
Can fit a 90cm wide mattress
Length: 190cm
First-year Six-person Room:
Height from lower bed to upper bed: 105cm
Height from upper bed to ceiling: 1.6m
Overall bed width: 91cm (including metal frame)
Gap between bed and wall: 94cm
Wooden bed board width: 85cm
Length: 194cm (without metal frame)
(For reference)
Fifth-year Dormitory:
Depends on bed style
Desk facing inward: 0.9m * 1.9m; desk facing outward: 1.0m * 1.9m
(From a senior student, for reference)
Bed Curtains Issue:
It is recommended to measure after moving in before purchasing, since bed sizes and upper/lower bunk conditions vary.
Some sizes can be referenced below in “Bed Dimensions”
Laundry Issues:
Rpeace Street and Liangxiang both allow the use of Raccoon laundry buckets; West District has laundromats where shoes can be cleaned.
Study Rooms:
Bringing a desk lamp to the dormitory study room is very necessary; study rooms are very small and narrow.
Hair Salons:
There are many hair salons around the West District, but their reliability needs to be judged personally.
Dormitory Supplies:
Bedside tables can be used; cabinets are very small and cannot hold much, so you can buy your own cabinets.
First-year Female Dormitory
3 bunk beds (upper and lower)
2 desks (with 6 drawers, shared by dorm residents but can be allocated individually);
1 large shelf (one layer per person);
1 storage cabinet (one storage compartment per person);
6 stools
Cabinets:
Some dorms have one metal cabinet, some have two. Each person has a small cabinet under the bed for daily use items. Each person can have a drawer in the desk.
Surveillance Issues:
There are cameras in the West District dormitory corridors, but dorm supervisors cannot view them. You need to contact security.
Door Lock Issues
To be supplemented
Air Conditioning and Fans:
Second-year dormitory has fans (basically unused, some broken) and air conditioners (can cool; heating sometimes trips circuits, requiring preheating to be turned off)
Microwaves:
There are microwaves in the dormitory buildings, generally on the first floor of the dormitory.
Raccoon Laundry Bucket Issue:
