383. Rhodiola

Moderately bitter, but extremely astringent, with a slight sourness and a very subtle sweetness.

After drinking, there is a noticeable sensation of flow through the heart, lungs, and their meridians, the face (mainly along the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming) even feels a subcutaneous crawling sensation. At the same time, the entire body’s qi is more active than before, with a tingling sensation in the lower back, upper back, and back of the neck, spreading along the ribs toward the front of the body. The neck and upper back sweat slightly.

Effects: Promotes qi circulation and blood flow, raises qi, strengthens the heart and lungs.

384. Sea Buckthorn

Sour and sweet, pleasant to the taste, with a slightly herbal aftertaste (similar to loquat leaves).

The feeling after drinking is similar to that of Schisandra. It gathers energy into the heart, lungs, and spleen. The difference is that after constricting qi and blood, sea buckthorn quickly drives this qi and blood along the three yin meridians of the hands and feet to the palms and soles.

Effects: Strengthens heart and lungs, tonifies spleen, promotes qi circulation and blood flow.

385. Maltose

I have a strong taste preference and only brewed it with 100ml of water. It tastes mildly sweet at the entry, the middle tone carries a malty grassy aroma, and the aftertaste is quite unique—fresh and sweet.

After drinking, energy quickly concentrates in the spleen and radiates outward (similar to honey). The liver, kidneys, heart, and lungs are all moistened, which also calms the spirit; the flanks and back of the neck feel somewhat soft.

Effects: Tonifies the five viscera, relieves urgency and pain, calms the mind.
