Welcome everyone to share your experiences with the medication in the replies to facilitate other students’ search and learning.

27. Light Fermented Soybeans (淡豆豉)

Like natto, it is a fermented food, with a sour taste when eaten or drunk, not very palatable.

Fermented foods generally have the effect of aiding digestion and resolving retention. Light fermented soybeans and Shenqu (神曲) share this property.

Confirmed effects: aids digestion and resolves retention, promotes bowel movement. As a food, it inherently has the effect of tonifying the middle qi, thus when combined with Gardenia (栀子), it can treat deficiency heat — I tend to think it itself does not have the effect of clearing heat and eliminating irritability.

27.1 Yellow Soybean Curd Roll (大豆黄卷)

A lighter version of soy milk, differing from fermented soybeans in that the primary effect of Yellow Soybean Curd Roll is tonifying the middle and boosting qi; for details, refer to soy milk.

The effects of soy milk were covered in the pulse diagnosis class; briefly, first, it can provide the spleen and kidneys with readily available energy, second, it has a certain effect of purifying and clarifying the blood.

29. Horsetail (木贼)

Super delicious to drink; even some very expensive teas might not taste better than horsetail.

Confirmed effects: unblocks nasal passages, clears tear ducts, strengthens the eyelid muscles making the eyes appear larger and more spirited; combined with mosquito plant (香薷) and rhubarb (大黄), it can reduce dark circles under the eyes.
