Recruitment of Adenomyosis Patients with Dysmenorrhea (Free Acupuncture Treatment)

Introduction

Dysmenorrhea caused by adenomyosis (AM) is referred to as “secondary dysmenorrhea,” which often progressively worsens and severely affects the quality of life of affected women.
This project, “Electroacupuncture Treatment for Secondary Dysmenorrhea due to Adenomyosis,” is conducted by the Acupuncture Department of Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. We plan to recruit 36 patients. If you meet the recruitment criteria and voluntarily wish to participate in this study, please contact us as soon as possible!

Recruitment Period

October 2023 - December 2024

Participation Criteria

  1. Meet the Western medicine diagnostic criteria for AM
  2. Aged between 20 and 50 years
  3. Secondary dysmenorrhea with progressive aggravation, disease duration ≥ 1 year
  4. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score for abdominal pain during the last three menstrual periods ≥ 40 (We will evaluate the VAS score mentioned in item 4 for you)

What You Will Receive

  1. Three months of acupuncture treatment
  2. Assessment of dysmenorrhea symptoms and personalized lifestyle guidance
  3. Follow-up 4 weeks after the end of treatment
