The Development Cycle of Yangming Disease

Yangming disease often begins with Yangming heat syndrome, initially manifesting as the Zhizi Chicthorn Decoction (Zhizi Chi Tang) syndrome; as it progresses, it enters the stages of Baihu Decoction syndrome and Baihu plus Ginseng Decoction syndrome, which represent the peak phase of Yangming heat syndrome. The Zhuling Decoction syndrome is actually a variation during the progression of Yangming heat syndrome, caused by heat in the middle burner injuring the kidney yin. So, what stage is the Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Decoction syndrome? The Yangming pathogenic factor has moved from the stomach to the intestines and continues downward. Due to the presence of waste in the intestines, the Yangming heat syndrome transforms into what is called Yangming excess syndrome. The Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Decoction syndrome is the intermediate stage in the transition from Yangming heat syndrome to Yangming excess syndrome. This syndrome no longer belongs to Yangming heat syndrome, but the typical signs of Yangming fu excess have not yet fully formed; it represents the initial binding of the formless pathogenic heat of Yangming with intestinal waste, without the appearance of the typical large excess and fullness symptoms of Yangming fu excess.
