Should You Charge Electronic Devices That Are Not Used for Long Periods?

For long-term storage, maintain a 50% charge level.

If the device will not be used for an extended period, two key factors affect the battery’s overall health: ambient temperature and the battery’s state of charge before being powered off and stored. Therefore, we recommend the following:

  • Do not fully charge or fully discharge the battery; instead, store the device with approximately a 50% charge level. Storing the device with a completely depleted battery may cause it to enter a deep discharge state, rendering it unable to recharge. Conversely, storing the device at full charge for prolonged periods may result in partial loss of battery capacity, thereby reducing battery runtime.
