Overview

Based on my personal experience and shared experiences from friends, most people follow this “growth path” when downloading e-books:

  1. Ask classmates or teachers
  2. If no one else has it, search by yourself, initially using simple general search engines like Baidu
  3. Later, use specialized search engines/resource libraries, such as Jiumo
  4. If still not enough, buy from Taobao

Don’t underestimate Step 1; often when you need an e-book, your classmates have already found it. However, don’t rely too much on this step either, since eventually there will be some e-books only you need.

For Complete Beginners

How does Taobao find PDF files on your behalf?

The original uploader states: For books that cannot be found by the following methods, Taobao will also not be able to find them.

After going through these three channels, most books can be downloaded:
Chaoxing Library → Z-Library → Book Search Network

Method 1
Chaoxing Library requires payment, but there is a way to use it for free, by borrowing through libraries:

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Library
Zhejiang Library
Chongqing Library

After downloading from Chaoxing Library, open it with the software [Chaoxing Reader]. The current file format is not PDF, so it cannot be opened with other software. Therefore, the format needs to be converted using the software [pdz Assistant] to convert it into PDF format.

Method 2
If method 1 does not work, then search on [Z-Library]. If the downloaded file needs to be converted to PDF, you can use the software [Calibre].

Method 3
If method 2 above does not work, then search for the book on the [National Library Reference and Consultation Alliance]. This step mainly focuses on obtaining detailed information of the book (ISBN, classification number), then go to [Book Search Network] to search. Originally there was a [Fast Transfer Code], but now this method is invalid, so to download, you can only select the third-party paid download next to the [Fast Transfer Code] (1 yuan per day).
